Soaring songs with just the right bit of angst to keep even the most disenfranchised of indie lovers listening, The Joy Formidable out of North Wales make it to Berlin, presenting material from their upcoming new album, for a one night gig at the new(ish) Comet Club.
Formed in 2007 with two previous albums under their collective belt, the three piece have been doing very well in the UK festival scene with notable appearances at the Latitude, Reading and Leads festivals. This in addition to touring as support to Editors, Howling Bells and Passion Pit.
From an interview with Altsounds.co.uk:
“Yeah I just think it’s just a strange time at the moment, and we’re not concerning ourselves with anything other than putting out records and doing stuff for the fans and as long as you concentrate on that, whatever happens, will happen. You just gotta really knuckle down and be proud of what you’re creating I think.” – Rhydian
A solid band with a solid lineup making solid songs for and increasingly solid fanbase. We’re looking forward to the new album, which the band regard as their real “debut”, and hearing the songs now, live, is going to give you a real feeling of being a small part of the process leading into the release.
Get along to the show, buy the drummer a beer and yourself a 7″, clap loudly and be able to tell your friends all about it the next day.
